WASHINGTON, D.C. – RGA Right Direction PAC, an organization supported by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), today released a new multimedia ad campaign in the Louisiana governor’s race. In the critical categories of job growth, economic strength, and higher education Louisiana ranks dead last in the conference, behind Florida, Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, and Mississippi, all states with Republican governors who are taking full advantage of the booming economy under President Trump. Louisiana, the only state with a Democratic governor, lags behind.

In addition to the website, the campaign includes a sports program-style ad, titled “Deplorables,” that features Louisiana’s tanking rankings under Edwards and highlights Edwards’ liberal positions, including supporting Hillary Clinton even after she referred to Trump voters as “deplorables.” The ad will run on statewide television and target Louisiana primary voters on Facebook and YouTube.

“The stats are clear – John Bel Edwards has put Louisiana on the losing team. From embracing higher taxes and government-run healthcare, to standing by Hillary even after she insulted the majority of Louisiana voters, he’s striking out across the board,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “It’s time to trade John Bel Edwards in for a Republican governor and start getting some points on the board for hardworking Louisianans.”

“Deplorables” Script:

Anchor 1: Let’s take a look at the latest rankings.

Anchor 2: Once again, Louisiana, last place for jobs.

They were actually the only state to lose jobs.

And the only Deep South state with a DEMOCRAT Governor.

Anchor 1: But John Bel Edwards is sticking with his liberal team.

Stayed with Hillary even after she called Trump supporters “deplorable.”

Anchor 2: And went with Washington liberals in the government takeover of healthcare.

Anchor 1: Hard to see John Bel Edwards holding on to his job with this losing record.
