Latest Jobs Report Shows States Led By Republican Governors Are Leading The Way In Booming National Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – States with GOP governors yet again posted strong job gains and low unemployment rates in the latest jobs report released by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. These results are indicative of the pro-growth policies advanced by Republican governors across the country, as well as the strength of the national economy under President Trump. Over 2.6 million total jobs have been created in states with Republican governors since the president took office in January 2017.

Due to strong job gains in August, a record number of workers have jobs in thirteen states with Republican governors – at no point in history have these states had more people working than at the present time. Additionally, every single state with a Republican governor has experienced job growth over the year.

The near-historic low national unemployment rate of 3.7% was once again propelled by low unemployment rates in states with Republican chief executives. The four states with the lowest unemployment rates in the country – Vermont, North Dakota, Iowa, and New Hampshire – are led by GOP governors, and 20 states with Republican governors have an unemployment rate lower than 4%.

“Amid a booming national economy, Republican governors across the country are expanding economic opportunity for their citizens, incentivizing job creation, and promoting economic freedom,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “These continued gains are proof that Republicans’ pro-growth policies are working, and America’s economy is stronger than ever.”
