Democrat Laura Kelly is out with a new ad today taking credit for the $829 million taxpayer-funded incentive package used to lure Panasonic’s new plant, but the ad fails to mention that Kelly and her administration forgot to look at the fine print.
Unlike similar announcements in Republican-led states like Georgia, Kelly’s Panasonic deal had no minimum jobs or salary commitments in exchange for the hundreds of millions in tax breaks. Read more from The Kansas City Star here.
“In a desperate attempt to remain relevant in an election year, Democrat Laura Kelly gambled with Kansas tax dollars by failing to secure even the most basic guarantees for jobs or salary minimums,” said RGA spokeswoman Joanna Rodriguez. “Kansans deserve a governor that is going to read the fine print and ensure their hundreds of millions of dollars aren’t risked on an agreement made with a wink and a nod.”
