Kansas DCF Too Busy Defending Kelly to Track Child Sexual Abuse

Democrat Laura Kelly’s Department of Children and Families is at the center of yet another fire storm today. The latest report from The Topeka Capital-Journal outlines how the agency failed to publish its annual report on child sexual abuse cases for the first three years of Kelly’s term. To make matters worse, the newly released data shows the number of child sexual abuse cases more than doubled during the time Kelly’s administration failed to publish the report.

This latest failure comes just two months after it was reported Kansas foster children are sleeping in offices again after Kelly stopped holding contractors accountable for the practice, and after DCF Secretary Laura Howard was caught using taxpayer-funded resources and time to support Kelly’s re-election campaign.

“Democrat Laura Kelly made sure the Kansas Department of Children and Families used their time and resources to defend her against political attacks, but apparently didn’t think it was as important they protect Kansas children from sexual abuse,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “Kelly has been asleep at the wheel allowing state agencies to punt on their responsibilities so long as they do her political bidding.”
