Iowa Dem Slams State Democratic Party As “Out of Touch”

The state of Iowa has already been trending red, with Republicans winning up and down the ticket. Iowa’s most prominent pollster even called it the “reddification” of Iowa.

But instead of recognizing their mistakes and fixing their inability to appeal to rural voters, the Iowa Democratic Party is doubling down on far-left urban interests and candidates unable to connect with voters. Now, even Democrats are calling the Iowa Democratic Party “out of touch.”

Longtime Iowa Democrat Ed Fallon writes in a new editorial in the Quad-City Times that “Iowa Democrats are out of touch… and not just with rural voters but with low- and middle-income working people, too.”

“With its ever-shrinking base, the IDP is headed toward permanent minority-party status.”

Fallon’s remarks come as one of the Democrats’ leading candidates for governor – insurance fortune heir Fred Hubbell – is already being mocked for being out of touch with Iowans. At a recent “gala” in honor of Hollywood’s Alec Baldwin, attendees held up silver spoons mocking “the insurance heir’s silver-spoon upbringing.”

Hubbell also recently revealed his problem connecting with voters by responding to a question about what he’d do for rural Iowa by saying he managed rural stores…in the 1980s.

The Iowa Democratic Party is proving it will do everything possible to appear out of touch to voters.
