Iowa Dem Gov Candidate Promises “Bold Progressive Agenda” With $12 Billion Price Tag

Iowa “labor leader” Cathy Glasson led union efforts to elect Hillary Clinton, but now she’s decided to embrace a new political philosophy as she runs for governor.

In an attempt to win the Democrat nomination, Glasson has decided to take the most far-left position on every issue, becoming a Bernie Sanders devotee.

The American Prospect profiled Glasson this week, writing, “Glasson helped lead SEIU’s robust political efforts supporting Hillary Clinton, whom the union endorsed early on, in the close Iowa Democratic primary against Bernie Sanders. Now, her campaign reflects the aspirational agenda that Sanders ran on in his presidential bid, which has since pulled the national party leftward.”

“‘We need a bold progressive movement,’ said Glasson. “Iowa should and can lead on universal single-payer.”

“Glasson is also not shy about her support for Senator Bernie Sanders’s new Medicare for All bill.”

The problem? Glasson’s plan would force a massive, $12 billion tax increase on Iowa.

It’s looking like Cathy Glasson will force the Democrat field in Iowa far to the left, even if it means making promises that would force higher spending and disastrous tax hikes on hardworking Iowans.
