Betsy Johnson is out with a new ad so you know what that means — time for a fact check.
Good on Betsy for citing her sources, but, once again, she left out a few key votes.
In the ad, the narrator hits Tina Kotek for supporting “a law fundamentally legalizing hard drugs like meth and heroin,” but in 2021, Johnson joined Kotek in voting for Senate Bill 755 that provided for the implementation of Measure 110 that decriminalized drugs that worsened the drug abuse crisis in the state and failed to get Oregonians the resources they need.
The narrator then goes on to state that, “in Tina Kotek’s Oregon, criminals have more rights than you do,” but in 2021, Johnson voted for Senate Bill 48 that eliminated minimum bail requirements for violent criminals.
“Voters know that Tina Kotek’s Oregon, is the same as Betsy Johnson’s Oregon, is the same as Kate Brown’s Oregon,” said RGA Spokeswoman Kaitlin Price. “Betsy can try as she might to avert Oregonians’ eyes from a record that she clearly sees as disastrous, but she will never be able to distract them from the realities of her decades of failed leadership alongside Tina Kotek.”
