ICYMI: Cuomo Aide Corruption Trial “Complicates New York Gov. Cuomo’s Reelection Bid”

An ongoing corruption of New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo’s longtime aide is threatening to derail Cuomo’s political future. As Cuomo works to pass a billion-dollar tax hike plan and struggles to stem New York’s out-migration crisis, the corruption trial of Joseph Percoco, who has worked for Cuomo since 1999, is bringing the sunlight to the Cuomo administration’s dirty practices.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the trial could “distract from his plans” and “complicates” his re-election bid. Percoco has been described as Cuomo’s “right-hand man” and “an aide so close to the Democratic governor that getting a phone call from him was like speaking to Cuomo himself.”

“Percoco is facing seven felony charges related to the alleged scheme, including extortion, conspiracy and solicitation of bribes.”

As the trial continues, the public has been learning more about Cuomo’s deep relationship with Percoco. Cuomo’s current Chief-of-Staff revealed to the court in shocking testimony that Percoco even called Cuomo as FBI agents raided his home.

Did Andrew Cuomo know what his “right-hand man” was allegedly doing? The trial of Joseph Percoco threatens to reveal Andrew Cuomo’s culture of corruption.
