New data released shows the sad reality of Gretchen Whitmer’s school shutdowns, as reading, writing, and math scores plummeted across the state.
According to the report from Michigan State University, while Whitmer catered to her union donors to keep schools closed, the number of third graders in Michigan who are eligible to be held back due to reading jumped by 20%.
In fact, in 2022 58.4% of third graders failed the English Language Arts competent of the M-STEP standardized test.
“Gretchen Whitmer’s overzealous school shutdowns and kowtowing to her union donors set back an entire generation of Michigan students, holding them back from their potential and significantly harming Michigan’s future,” said RGA Spokesman Chris Gustafson. “Meanwhile, Tudor Dixon has a plan to improve Michigan’s education system by protecting parents’ rights, ensuring kids stay in the classroom, and funding tutoring for math and reading to help kids make up for lost time thanks to Whitmer’s disastrous shutdowns.”
