Governor Stitt To Oklahomans: This Recovery Is OURS

Taking a deliberate, data-driven approach in the Sooner State, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt announced a three-phased recovery plan to get Oklahoma safely up and running: Open Up and Recover Safely, or OURS.

The OURS plan relies on scientific models and projections to protect at-risk Oklahomans from the spread of COVID-19, prevent a resurgence of the disease, and aid businesses and individuals in bouncing back.

The first phase begins on Friday, April 24th, and additional businesses will be permitted to reopen on May 1st under the stipulation that they practice social distancing rules. Phase one of Governor Stitt’s plan also keeps the state’s safer-at-home order in place for vulnerable and elderly Oklahomans and ensures grocery stores keep their modified hours for safe shopping.

“From the beginning it has been my intent to protect the health and lives of Oklahomans, especially our vulnerable populations, and mitigate the impact to Oklahoma’s economy and get Oklahomans safely back to work,” said Governor Stitt. “We have put together a group of industry professionals from across our state, and they have been working with my Governor’s Solution Task Force and our health advisors to develop a way to get back open safely.”

The OURS plan will only progress to subsequent phases if Oklahoma hospital and incident rates remain at a manageable level for 14 days. Specific guidelines are set for each phase in order to reposition Oklahoma for strength and success in a balanced, well-informed fashion.

“As we begin to responsibly implement this measured response, we will continue to prioritize the safety of Oklahomans and base all decisions on the data in our state,” added Governor Stitt, reassuring Oklahomans that his road to recovery prioritizes their health and wellbeing above all.
