Taking a strategic and data-driven, yet bold approach to reopening Missouri’s economy, Governor Mike Parson has introduced his Show Me Strong Recovery Plan, set to begin on May 4th. Two initial phases will center on protecting Missourians most vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 while simultaneously taking steps to restore the economy to the prosperity the state was experiencing prior to the pandemic.
Governor Parson’s recovery plan has four key components: expanding testing capacity, leveraging public and private supply chains to increase reserves of PPE, monitoring health care system capacity and expanding if necessary, and using Missouri’s public health data to better predict potential outbreaks.
“Between now and May 4th, we will continue to monitor the situation and work with Missouri’s hospitals, health care providers, public health experts, business leaders, and state departments to develop a data driven plan,” said Governor Parson. “We will also be reaching out to the business community, as well as local county and city government, to put these plans in place for May 4th and begin the first phase of reopening Missouri.”
By taking gradual steps that take the diversity of Missouri’s citizens, businesses, infrastructure, and communities into consideration, Governor Parson’s Show Me Strong Recovery Plan is positioning the state for a robust economic recovery.
“No matter how long it takes, I assure you we will recover from this and come back better than before. I look forward to seeing Missourians safe, healthy, and back to work,” said Governor Parson.
