Governor Mike Parson Keeps Working For Missouri

Governor Mike Parson hasn’t missed a beat as he continues to work hard for Missouri while safely quarantining in the People’s House. The governor put in a busy week of important announcements, virtual events, and interviews to keep Missourians informed and keep the Show Me State moving toward a successful recovery.

The Show Me State continued to move full steam ahead under Governor Parson’s leadership, with the governor making several important announcements, including key steps to continue implementing his Show Me Strong Recovery Plan. This week alone Governor Parson:

  • Released updated long-term care facility guidelines to safely reunite Missouri families;
  • Expanded the state’s COVID-19 online dashboards to increase access to critical information;
  • Promoted free community testing sites across the state;
  • Directed the distribution of PPE to schools;
  • Announced hundreds of thousands of PPE items supplied to state agencies and nonprofits by the Missouri Department of Corrections;
  • Announced the purchase of additional COVID-19 testing machines and preparations to supply over two million rapid point-of-care tests by the end of the year;
  • Activated the Missouri National Guard to assist local law enforcement in any instances of civil unrest.

 

 

Upholding his commitment to honor Missouri’s workforce and first responders, Governor Parson also declared September 30th State Employee Appreciation Day, illuminated the Missouri State House and Governor’s Mansion to honor fallen firefighters, and declared October 2nd as Manufacturing Day. He also joined Kansas Governor Laura Kelly for a bipartisan discussion on women’s economic and civic development at an event hosted by the Women’s Foundation We Work for Change initiative.

 

 

The governor continued his strong track record of transparency, engaging directly with the press and Missouri voters every day of the week. In addition to posting regular video updates from himself and First Lady Teresa Parson, the governor also held a live press conference via Facebook Live on Wednesday, and participated in interviews with KMOX, KCMO, Fox 2, and This Week in Missouri Politics. He also held a virtual town hall with FM NewsTalk 97.1 to answer Missourians’ questions.
