WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association today launched the next video of the American Comeback project, a national advertising effort designed to tell the success stories and accomplishments of Republican governors.

This week’s American Comeback video features South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, a principled leader who, by working to pay his own way through college and law school, learned tough lessons about sacrifice and hard work. Those lessons serve as cornerstones of his governing philosophy and are the building blocks for South Dakota’s comeback.

“I think government is – in some places – too prone to think that it has the solutions to all of our problems, and that’s not true. We have to solve our problems through sacrifice in some cases and hard work in other cases,” said Governor Daugaard.

“Stop borrowing for our future. Stop spending money like spending money will solve our problems,” Governor Daugaard added. “I think if America is going to come back and be the superpower that it has been in the past, we need to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps and not wait around for government to help us. We need to take care of our own business, get out there and work, and be unafraid.”

“The answers aren’t coming from Washington. We’re balancing budgets, adding jobs, getting people back to work, cutting debt, doing the things that get government out of the way,” Governor Daugaard concluded. “Republican governors are driving America’s comeback.”

In the coming weeks and months, the American Comeback project will grow to include more videos focused on individual Republican governors, their personal journeys and the progress they’ve made toward bringing prosperity to their states.
