GOP Governor Kim Reynolds Signs Major Legislation To Prepare Iowa’s Workforce For The Future

Iowa GOP Governor Kim Reynolds is committed to making sure that Iowa’s workforce is prepared for a changing economy. In January, Reynolds called for a bipartisan bill to boost education and jobs training. Yesterday, Reynolds delivered on her promise, signing the “Future Ready Iowa” bill that aims to have 70% of Iowa workers educated or trained by 2025.

It’s another major accomplishment for Governor Reynolds this year, and it comes just a week after Reynolds signed new legislation to tackle the mental health crisis.

Governor Reynolds is proving that she can get the job done for the people of Iowa.

The Des Moines Register reports,

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a bill Tuesday aimed at having 70 percent of Iowa workers obtain education or training beyond high school by 2025.

The Future Ready Iowa legislation has been a key priority of the Republican governor, who is campaigning in an effort to win a full four-year term in November’s election. She proposed the bill in her Condition of the State address in January and she signed it Tuesday during a Future Ready Iowa Summit at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.

“This bill changes lives by helping Iowans earn credentials that prepare them for rewarding careers in advanced manufacturing, computer science, finance, health care and many other fields,” Reynolds said. “This bill also helps employers hire the skilled workers they need to grow, which means Iowa communities will be even more prosperous.”
