Gina Raimondo’s Rhode Island Ranked As One of America’s Most-Taxed States

As Democrat Governor Gina Raimondo struggles with low approval ratings amid stagnant economic growth and scandals with her administration, the people of her state continue to be plagued by one of the highest tax burdens in the nation. Just this month, two new rankings by Wallethub and Key Policy Data rated Rhode Island’s tax burden among the ten highest states in the country.

Instead of reducing the heavy tax burden on the people of her state, Raimondo has been focused on imposing even more new fee hikes on working Rhode Islanders through electronic tolling systems. Even as state social services remain in disrepair, plagued by multiple scandals, Raimondo has made ensuring that tolling systems “are running at 100 percent” her priority while Rhode Island’s neediest citizens are left out to dry.

In addition, Raimondo has been completely silent on Nancy Pelosi’s plans to reverse tax cuts that have resulted in bonuses and pay raises for working Rhode Island families, despite the fact that Pelosi is a top fundraiser for the Democrat Governors Association, an organization in which Raimondo serves as Vice Chair. As Rhode Islanders are forced to foot the bill for Raimondo’s failed management of their state, voters will only continue to sour on her struggling campaign for a second term in office.
