Gina Raimondo Violates COVID-19 Safety Recommendations While Telling Rhode Islanders To Stay Home

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo is the latest Democratic governor to be found in violation of their own COVID-19 guidelines.

Following in the footsteps of fellow governors like Gavin Newsom and Michelle Lujan Grisham, Raimondo blatantly disregarded her own safety recommendations that she advocated for. Her disregard clearly sent a strong message to the people of Rhode Island that the rules may apply to them, but they don’t apply to her.

After extending a statewide pause and pleading with residents to “stay home except for essential activities,” Raimondo was caught last week, out in public sipping on wine and having a good time. Raimondo’s misdeed demonstrates a clear double standard. She was quick to lecture Rhode Islanders to stay at home, but when given the chance, she chose to partake in an evening consisting of wine and paint, surrounded by individuals who were not a part of her household.

To make matters even more concerning, the hypocritical Raimondo enjoyed her night out during an especially troubling period of time in Rhode Island’s fight against the pandemic. On the heels of her night out, COVID-19 cases were raging throughout the state, as The Ocean State was experiencing the highest number of cases per capita in the entire country.

“Gina Raimondo’s actions represent a stunning level of hypocrisy, which has become the norm for Democratic governors throughout this pandemic,” said RGA Deputy Communications Director Mike Demkiw. “Raimondo and her liberal friends impose draconian rules on others and tell businesses and individuals to sacrifice, but they don’t themselves.”
