Georgia’s Dem Gov Primary Gets Even Uglier As Abrams-Evans Feud Escalates

The fight for the Georgia Democrat gubernatorial nomination has begun to get even uglier as Stacey Abrams and Stacey Evans continue to viciously attack one another in hopes of winning liberal primary voters. Yesterday, in her newest attack on Evans, Abrams assailed her opponent’s record on firearms, accusing her of backing “extreme and horrifying legislation.” Evans fired back, blasting Abrams for leveling a “misleading negative attack.”

The Abrams-Evans feud has been growing for months since the debacle at Atlanta’s Netroots Nation Conference in August, where Democrats experienced a full-on meltdown as Evans was booed and jeered at by pro-Abrams protesters while supporters of the two candidates in the crowd were caught on video heavily arguing with one another. Evans berated Abrams about the incident at their next joint appearance, but Abrams refused to condemn her supporters’ actions. Weeks later, Abrams drew headlines when she accused Evans of starting a “whisper campaign” against her, demanding that she disavow the use of “whisper and deny tactics” in the press.

The Abrams-Evans feud has Democrats who are desperate for a win in Georgia worried, with some labeling it the “Georgia version of the Hillary Clinton-Bernie Sanders feud that could cripple the party.” While the Democrat gubernatorial primary continues to be consumed by repeated episodes of violent, negative attacks between Abrams and Evans, Georgia voters are seeing firsthand just how little Democrats are concerned about actual governing as they attempt to tear each other apart for primary votes.
