For The Third Quarter In A Row, The Top Ten Most Popular Governors In America are All Republicans

GOP governors once again set the bar high for result-driven leadership. The latest Morning Consult quarterly gubernatorial surveys show that for the third time in a row, the top ten most popular governors in America are all Republicans.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker received the highest approval rating at 73 percent, followed closely by Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland with a 70 percent rating and Vermont Governor Phil Scott with an approval rating of 64 percent. The three top-rated governors continue to receive sky-high marks from voters despite governing in states with legislatures controlled by Democrats.

Filling out the top fourteen most popular are Governors Mark Gordon of Wyoming, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, Brad Little of Idaho, Greg Abbott of Texas, Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Rob DeSantis of Florida, Kay Ivey of Alabama, Bill Lee of Tennessee and Phil Bryant of Mississippi.

The newest GOP governors, elected in 2018 for the first time, have earned strong support from their constituents as well. Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida received a 58 percent approval rating and Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee received a 56 percent approval rating.

In total, Republican governors have an average approval rating of 54.7 percent, surpassing the Democratic governor’s average of 46.2 percent by nearly ten points.

“This data confirms what we strongly believe, that the support for Republican Governors is not only sustained, it is growing,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Americans all across the country are reaping the benefits of effective Republican leadership and giving their GOP governors high marks. With a majority of states led by Republican chief executives today, our nation’s future continues to look brighter than ever.”
