Who? Florida Voters Are “Largely Unaware” of Democrats Running For Governor

Desperate to fill the void left by John Morgan, who announced late last month that he was leaving the party, Florida’s Democrat gubernatorial candidates are facing a momentous task of shaking up their uninspiring campaigns. But as a new poll shows, they continue to face a major problem: Florida voters don’t know who any of them are.

According to the new poll, only 13 percent of Florida Democrat voters could identify who Gwen Graham is, only 11 percent could identify who Andrew Gillum is, and only 10 percent could identify Philip Levine. With less than 11 months until Election Day, Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidates are facing lackluster fundraising, state party scandals, and now, struggling with an anonymity problem. Their chances for nominating a candidate with a credible path to victory continues to decrease daily.

Sunshine State News reports:

“In the poll, AIF asked a simple, open-ended question: Can you tell me the names of any of the Democratic candidates running to replace Rick Scott in 2018?

As it turns out, most voters can’t.

Only 13 percent of respondents named Graham as a contender, followed by Gillum, who took 11 percent. Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, who has the most money for his bid in the bank, only took 10 percent of the vote, followed by Orlando businessman Chris King, who was recognized by eight percent of respondents.

A much larger number — 40 percent — said they weren’t sure, while 14 percent identified some other candidate.”
