FL Dem Primary Watch: To lockdown or not to lockdown?

Charlie Crist and Nikki Fried’s primary is still over a year away, but today, one of their latest policy disagreements was made pretty clear. We know they don’t agree on Cuba. We know they don’t agree on who’s “turn” it is to run. And today we learned, they no longer agree on statewide lockdowns.

Over the weekend, Crist came out forcefully in support of locking down Florida again in an interview with CNN – he even doubled down on it when asked to clarify. Last year, Fried agreed with him and was calling for a statewide lockdown. But during her press conference today, Fried flip-flopped, saying, “Lockdowns, we know, at this point, should not be considered.”

Confused? Me too. But don’t dwell on it too long because based on their track records they’ll be changing positions again in no time!

“Whether they’re discussing statewide lockdowns or Cuba, Florida Democrats are a messaging disaster who can’t seem to agree on anything,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “It’s going to be a long year watching Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist twist themselves into pretzels as they balance winning over their far-left base with what’s best for the people of Florida.”
