At a rally last week in front of a small group of supporters, Maryland Dem gov candidate Ben Jealous acknowledged that he’s often being asked how much his “free” college plan will cost – but still won’t give anyone a straight answer.
Earlier this month, Jealous declared that he would work to impose “free” college if elected. But when the Washington Post asked Jealous how much his plan would cost, he had no response, because he has yet to “estimated how much a Maryland tuition-free state program would cost.”
Jealous addressed the question again last week at his rally, and again refused to say how much his plan would burden taxpayers.
Jealous remarked, “Now, on this issue of colleges, you know, some folks have said that I’m a bit starry eyed because I believe that we can have a Maryland in which we end massive student debt, and we pay for it by ending mass incarceration.”
Watch Jealous grow visibly distraught about answering questions on his “free” college plan here.
Ben Jealous won’t answer these questions because he has no answers, only cheap political rhetoric intended to distract voters from the massive tax hikes needed to fund his wild schemes.
Until Ben Jealous starts answering the most basic questions, he’s not a serious candidate for governor.
