Janet Mills ate crow this past week after her administration said that her vaccine mandate for healthcare workers would “not result in widespread service interruptions for healthcare facilities.”
Now, with the Department of Labor expected to finalize Joe Biden’s federal vaccine mandate for all workers in Maine this week, Mills must disclose if she supports the federal plan to fine already struggling small businesses $14,000 if they do not comply.
While Mills is at it, it might also be a good idea for with reverse course and admit the federal vaccine mandate will hurt Maine’s economy.
“Governor Mills knows firsthand the devastating effects a vaccine mandate can have, as many people in Maine this past week saw healthcare ripped away from their communities as a result of her policy,” said RGA spokesman Will Reinert. “Now, Mills must reject Joe Biden’s overreaching vaccine mandate or risk putting small businesses, still struggling from her restrictive pandemic policies, out of businesses because they cannot find enough workers to keep their doors open.”
