In case you missed it, The Detroit News blasted Gretchen Whitmer over the weekend for her failed leadership that singlehandedly crushed Michigan’s economy and continues to hold back the state’s recovery
Whitmer’s failures, like refusing to end federal unemployment benefits, have left Michigan with a shrinking workforce and the 43rd worst economic recovery in the nation.
“Gretchen Whitmer is unfit to lead the Great Lakes State out of the economic stagnation that her failed policies created,” said RGA Spokesperson Chris Gustafson. “Whitmer’s politically motivated and vindictive policies continue to harm small businesses and smother the economy. Without leadership change next fall, Michiganders will be forced to flee down Whitmer’s bumpy roads out of Michigan.”

Perhaps Gov. Gretchen Whitmer thought she could flip the economy back on as easily as she shut it down, but recent reports highlight that is not the case. It will take a long time for Michigan to fully recover from some of the nation’s strictest lockdown measures.
Many small businesses (and the jobs that come with them) are simply not coming back, especially those in the hospitality sector. Thousands of restaurants shuttered permanently in response to COVID restrictions. Take a stroll through most any Michigan city and once-vibrant downtowns are now littered with empty storefronts.
