Democrat Richard Cordray’s record of mismanagement at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau continues to burden his gubernatorial campaign as he fails to answer for allegations of discrimination at the agency while he served as its director.
Bloomberg News reports that Cordray has struggled with questions stemming from a “Government Accountability Office report in which roughly one-quarter of black, Asian, and female CFPB employees reported personally experiencing discrimination” at the CFPB during the time he was in office. This comes as the CFPB faces a new class-action lawsuit filed by former employees for alleged discrimination under Cordray’s management.
While Cordray has desperately tried to tout his time at the CFPB as a reason for his candidacy, his egregious failure to protect his employees from widespread harassment is only causing more problems for his campaign and proves that he can’t be trusted to lead.
