Ahead of the DNC chair’s campaign visit for Gina Raimondo, the impact of the failed Democrat governor’s disastrous policies has been on full display to the people of Rhode Island. Last night, two of Rhode Island’s largest TV stations aired shocking reports on glaring issues with the state’s Department of Human Services (DHS) backlog and Unified Health Infrastructure Project (UHIP) defects.
Providence’s NBC affiliate reported that DHS’ backlog has grown to over 13,000 cases leaving numerous families completely reliant on private foodbanks due to the Department’s failures. However, Gina Raimondo refuses to address the problem, saying “things at DHS are getting better.”
And WPRI-TV reported that the $364 million UHIP system Raimondo put in place currently has over 1,200 defects, blocking many from receiving benefits from DHS including Medicaid and foot stamps.
With struggling families unable to receive benefits and UHIP plagued by defects, Gina Raimondo’s administration has proven itself unable to help Rhode Island families. It’s no surprise that Gina Raimondo is already desperately trying to shore herself up by airing TV ads and campaigning with the DNC chairman as her complete failure to address these serious challenges will be remembered by voters come 2018.
