AGAIN? Dem Gov Gina Raimondo Tries To Evade Responsibility On Rhode Island’s DCYF Scandal

Democrat Gina Raimondo continues to refuse to take responsibility for the Rhode Island state government’s child welfare crisis, which has worsened substantially on her watch.

Yesterday, Republican gubernatorial nominee Allan Fung put forward a plan to make major improvements to the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), which has been plagued by alarming reports of neglect and worse during Raimondo’s tenure. The Democrat governor’s campaign responded with myths in a desperate attempt to mislead, falsely claiming that they are “turning around” the agency.

In their response, Raimondo’s campaign didn’t mention that the governor failed to appoint qualified leadership to run the DCYF until almost two years into her term and how there were over 30 fatalities or near fatalities among children in the agency’s care during a two year span. Raimondo keeps trying to evade responsibility, but the fact is that she appointed incompetent leadership and Rhode Island’s children paid the price for her mismanagement.
