Does Dem Gov Gina Raimondo Agree With Primary Opponent’s Call For Costly Single-Payer In Rhode Island?

With single-payer becoming a key litmus test for Democrat candidates nationwide in November’s elections, Rhode Island Democrat Governor Gina Raimondo owes voters answers on where she stands.

This morning, The Providence Journal reported that Raimondo’s Democrat primary opponent, Matt Brown, came out in favor of imposing a “Medicare-for all” single-payer plan if elected as governor. For months, Brown has challenged Raimondo from the left, threatening to weaken her support from Democrat base voters ahead of a competitive November election. Notably, a recent nonpartisan study of a Single-Payer proposal in Maryland concluded that imposing such a system would lead to massive tax hikes on businesses and working families.

With Brown making it clear that he would push for Single-Payer if elected, Rhode Island voters deserve an answer from Raimondo: Does she agree with Brown’s calls for a costly Single-Payer plan in Rhode Island?
