Does Dem Gov Candidate James Smith Agree With Hillary Clinton That South Carolina Is “Backwards?”

Earlier this week, former Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton decided to attack voters in states that voted against her in the 2016 election, calling them “backwards.” As a reminder, Hillary Clinton lost South Carolina by roughly 15 points in 2016.

But Clinton’s comments raise an important question for South Carolina Democrat gubernatorial candidate James Smith. Smith was one of Clinton’s top backers in South Carolina, endorsing her before the state’s primary, calling her “uniquely qualified to serve.”

Given his ardent support for Clinton during the 2016 election, he should immediately admit where he stands. Does James Smith agree with Hillary Clinton that South Carolina is backwards? Voters deserve to know.

HILLARY CLINTON: “If you look at the map of the United States, there’s all that red in the middle where Trump won. I win the coasts, I win Illinois, Minnesota, places like that. But what the map doesn’t show you is that I won the places that represent 2/3rds of America’s gross domestic product. So, I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving-forward, and his whole campaign Make America Great Again was looking backwards. You know, you didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women getting jobs, you don’t want to see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are. Whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it.”
