Dem Gov Candidate Fred Hubbell Quickly Learns That Iowa Is Already Growing On His “Get Iowa Growing” Tour

Iowa Democrat gubernatorial candidate Fred Hubbell is traveling the state on a “Get Iowa Growing” tour. The problem for Hubbell’s message? Iowa is already growing, in part thanks to the policies he opposes.

Under GOP Governor Kim Reynolds, Iowa’s economy is growing stronger, with unemployment at the lowest levels since 2001. Per capita income is up 21% since 2010, and Iowa just this month was ranked the 3rd best-run state in America.

Visiting the Fort Dodge Growth Alliance on a campaign stop, candidate Fred Hubbell was told that the region was “growing” because of the “economic development tools available to it,” including the use of state tax credits to bring companies to the area. Hubbell then went on to attack state tax credits on that very visit.

Fred Hubbell is standing against Iowa’s long-term growth by opposing economic growth initiatives like Governor Reynolds’ achievement in bringing Apple to Iowa. Hubbell’s even using his immense personal wealth to fund a television ad attacking the use of state tax credits to bring technology jobs to Iowa.

If Hubbell learned something on his “Get Iowa Growing” tour, it’s that Iowa is already growing, and he’s running on failed policies that would quickly stop it.
