Florida and the nation wait in hopeful prayer for news from the site of the Surfside collapse where Florida’s best first responders are working alongside teams from international allies, including specialists from the Israeli Defense Forces, who traveled to South Florida to help.
Back in Washington today, however, Charlie Crist’s House colleague Ilhan Omar reiterated in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper that she is not sorry for comments earlier this month equating Israel to terrorists Hamas and the Taliban. Charlie initially refused to condemn these comments, and he’s so far remained silent again today.
“When the unthinkable happened in Surfside last week, our allies in Israel mobilized, reached out to the Governor, and sent urban rescue experts to risk their own lives alongside Florida first responders,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “Those Israeli soldiers are still on the ground in Florida now as Charlie Crist’s colleague Ilhan Omar – yet again – compares Israelis to terrorists. Charlie’s refusing to condemn her is pure cowardice, and Florida deserves better.”
