Since announcing his intention to run for Connecticut governor, Democrat Kevin Lembo has tried to distance himself from Failed Governor Dan Malloy, criticizing the current state of Connecticut’s fiscal mess while steering clear of the ongoing budget crisis. Failing to mention his own complicity in the Democrat administration’s complete failure to address the state’s disastrous economic situation, Lembo has been eager to talk about the state’s issues and blame other politicians for not taking action. But as Lembo will quickly learn, he shares just as much blame as others for Connecticut’s continued fiscal woes.
The Daily Beast reports:
“’A lot of what is going on now could have been predicted 30 years ago,’ said state Comptroller Kevin Lembo. ‘Revenue was flowing into state coffers but politicians never did the hard work to make sure the retirement system was funded. They did the opposite and had them underfunded.’”
What Lembo doesn’t seem eager to talk about is his own role in Connecticut’s current economic catastrophe. For his almost two full terms as Connecticut’s top financial guardian, Lembo has presided over some of the most disastrous fiscal policies in the state’s history, with an unprecedented budget crisis that has no end in sight. His key role in Malloy’s administration and its anti-job, tax-hiking policies has made Connecticut less wealthy, less business-friendly, and less hospitable to its own citizens.
