As Concerns Over Inflation Rise, Red States Get Back To Work

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released state unemployment data for the month of June revealing that red states continue to hold their rank as the states with the lowest unemployment rates. With a majority of Americans concerned about the effects of rising inflation, Republican governors are helping get more residents of their states back to work than ever before.

12 of the top 15 states with the lowest unemployment rates in June were all led by Republican governors including:

  • Nebraska
  • New Hampshire
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • South Dakota
  • Indiana
  • Idaho
  • North Dakota
  • Alabama
  • Iowa
  • Montana
  • Florida

9 of the 10 states with the highest unemployment rates in June were led by Democrat governors including:

  • New Mexico
  • Nevada
  • Pennsylvania
  • Illinois
  • Delaware
  • New York
  • Michigan
  • Hawaii
  • California

Three times as many GOP-led states (21) are below the national average for unemployment than Democrat-led states (7).

“As inflation soars and the cost of living crisis remains top of mind for every American, voters are once again taking notice of red state success under the leadership of Republican governors,” said RGA Communications Director Jesse Hunt. “With the failed leadership of the Biden administration and Democrat governors on full display, it comes as no surprise that voters across the country are switching to the Republican party.”
