Colorado’s Democrat Governor John Hickenlooper has hit a new low.
Last week, in an interview with Politico, Hickenlooper argued the current political and rural/urban divides are “as significant as when we had slave states and anti-slavery states.”
Hickenlooper’s historically ignorant statement not only trivializes the horrors of slavery, but also dismisses the legitimate concerns of rural Americans.
This is not the first time Hickenlooper has derided rural Americans. In 2009, while serving as Mayor of Denver, Hickenlooper accused rural Western Coloradans of “backwards thinking.” Recently, Hillary Clinton appeared to channel Hickenlooper by also calling states that voted against her “backwards.”
Hickenlooper and Clinton’s offensive comments are just more proof of how out-of-touch Democrats are with the everyday lives of the people they seek to govern.
