Career Politicians Chris Koster and Jay Nixon Stick Together With Attack On Military Service

Missouri voters are craving a change in leadership in the governor’s office, and the state’s current Democrat Governor Jay Nixon recently offered a new example why. Discussing the state’s gubernatorial race, Nixon shamefully attacked GOP gubernatorial nominee Eric Greitens’ military service, stating that serving our nation as a Navy SEAL was not real “training” for leading a state or serving in state government.

“…Nixon also criticized Eric Greitens, a former Navy SEAL and nonprofit founder who is running for governor against Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster. Part of Greitens’ campaign platform is that he is an outsider who has never served elected office. ‘Do you want to have a Navy SEAL that has no training? Is that what America wants?’ Nixon said. ‘Somebody that’s going to be out there fighting wars for us at the top end of that, and you should do it without any training?” (Will Schmitt, “Nixon Defended His Vetoes In Springfield,” Springfield News-Leader, 9/13/2016)

Nixon believes Greitens – who is a former Navy SEAL, combat veteran, White House Fellow, Rhodes Scholar and Executive Director of The Mission Continues –doesn’t have the experience to serve Missouri as governor. Democrat gubernatorial nominee Chris Koster has remained silent on Nixon’s remarks, aligning himself with this reprehensible attack on military service.

As a conservative outsider, Eric Greitens is encouraging Missouri voters with new ideas on how to move the state forward and drive job growth. Nixon and Koster’s desperate attempt to cling to their resumes as career politicians – while insulting military service – shows how out of touch they are.
