Bernie Sanders’ Record of Endorsing Losers Doesn’t Bode Well For Ben Jealous

In Maryland, Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders announced today he would endorse Democrat Ben Jealous in his campaign for governor. But this endorsement does not bode well for Jealous, given Sanders’ recent legal issues and his poor record of endorsing losing candidates. So far, every single candidate backed by Bernie Sanders for political office this year has been defeated, some in spectacular fashion. Here are just a few of the Democrats whom Sanders has thrown his weight behind, and the end result was the same with each of them:

Tom Perriello for Virginia Governor – Defeated in the Democrat primary by Ralph Northam
Keith Ellison for DNC chair – Defeated by Tom Perez
Jon Ossoff for Georgia’s 6th District – Defeated by Karen Handel
James Thompson for Kansas’ 4th District – Defeated by Ron Estes
Rob Quist for Montana’s At-Large District – Defeated by Greg Gianforte
Heath Mello for Omaha Mayor – Defeated by Jean Stothert
Sue Minter for Vermont Governor – Defeated by Phil Scott

Before Ben Jealous decides to tout Bernie’s support on the campaign trail, he may want to take note of how that has worked for Democrats like Tom Perriello, Sue Minter, Keith Ellison, and Jon Ossoff. And with Sanders’ wife now facing an FBI probe that threatens to taint his political future, his endorsement might do more harm than good.
