After Bankrolling Clinton Super PAC With Millions, J.B. Pritzker Has Zero Credibility On Campaign Finance Reform

POLITICO is reporting this morning that Illinois Democrat gubernatorial candidate and heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune J.B. Pritzker has apparently made assurances to primary opponent Daniel Biss on the issue of campaign finance reform in order to receive his endorsement. However, Pritzker has zero credibility on this issue, since he has a longstanding history of funneling millions towards politicians in the interest of securing himself high-level government posts.

In 2016, Pritzker bankrolled Hillary Clinton’s primary Super PAC, Priorities USA Action, to the tune of over $15 million. WCIA later reported that Pritzker’s Super PAC donations were essentially a down payment on a high-level cabinet position in a potential Clinton administration.

WCIA explains, “Pritzker was heavily invested in Clinton’s presidential bid, donating over $15 million to Priorities USA Action, the pro-Clinton super PAC then run by current Pritzker campaign manager Anne Caprara. According to a source who was briefed on the matter, Pritzker was angling for a high-level cabinet position in Clinton’s administration and had every expectation she would win the November contest in a landslide.”

Given his past history, J.B. Pritzker simply has no credibility to discuss or make promises on campaign finance reform. Daniel Biss was right when he declared in March that “electing J.B. Pritzker governor is literally the worst thing we could possibly do.”
