WASHINGTON D.C. – The Republican Governors Association released the follow statement regarding Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds planned assumption of the Iowa governorship after President-elect Donald Trump announced he would nominate Governor Terry Branstad as U.S. Ambassador to China.
“Iowa is extremely fortunate to have a results-driven leader like Kim Reynolds poised to become the state’s next governor,” said RGA Chairman Governor Scott Walker. “After nearly six years as Iowa’s Lieutenant Governor, Kim is extremely qualified to serve as the state’s chief executive, and we’re excited that she has the necessary experience to hit the ground running and continue the strong conservative leadership provided by Governor Branstad. With Kim Reynolds as governor, Iowa will continue moving forward in the right direction.”
