Another Democrat Drops Out of Connecticut Governor’s Race

Another Democrat candidate has dropped out of Connecticut’s 2018 gubernatorial race. The Hartford Courant reports that liberal hedge fund manager Dita Bhargava will end her candidacy for the state’s highest office after spending months embracing Failed Governor Dan Malloy’s tax hikes and anti-jobs policies. This comes just one day after a new poll showed Democrat support eroding among voters around the state as Malloy’s approval rating now stands at just 23 percent.

Bhargava joins Chris Mattei, Dan Drew, and Kevin Lembo as the latest Malloy Enabler to end her bid to replace her party’s failed governor. And with all of the party’s other top-tier candidates, including Nancy Wyman, Ted Kennedy Jr., George Jepsen, and Dan Malloy himself all refusing to run, Democrats find themselves without a clear leader as November’s election draws near.

As Bhargava’s decision shows, Democrats will not be able to escape Dan Malloy’s toxic legacy after he has driven Connecticut into fiscal crisis and economic decline for the last seven years.
