Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum is facing yet another instance of misleading voters after he was caught fabricating the number of contributors to his campaign. In a recent email to supporters, Gillum’s campaign bragged that “we’re excited to have more than 7,000 contributors, the most in the race.” But as Florida Politics found, it was a statement that was quickly debunked after finance reports showed he only received donations from only about 5,300 donors – significantly less than what the campaign originally touted to the public.
Florida Politics reports:
“Andrew Gillum’s nascent campaign has grossly overstated the number of donors who have contributed to the Tallahassee mayor’s bid to be Florida governor, a review of campaign finance documents shows.
On Friday, Gillum’s campaign bragged that it was “excited to have more than 7,000 contributors”… However, when duplicates are removed from the list of contributions, Gillum received donations from approximately 5,300 people.
This is a major discrepancy for a campaign that has been dogged by criticisms of being the gang that can’t shoot straight.”
With Gillum already under investigation for using taxpayer funded resources for campaign purposes, voters are left wondering what else he may be hiding or misleading voters about. Florida voters are quickly learning they can’t trust Gillum to tell the truth.
