After last week’s discovery of another political email soliciting invitations for a Florida Democrat fundraiser, embattled gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was a no-show at a major Florida Democrat meeting in St. Petersburg this weekend. Gillum had been scheduled to join other gubernatorial hopefuls but was reportedly the only major candidate that did not appear.
Sunshine State News reports:
“Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, former congresswoman Gwen Graham and Orlando businessman Chris King all came out to show face and rub shoulders with party members. Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum was originally scheduled to make an appearance according to news reports, but was a no-show.”
With the Leon County Sheriff’s office continuing its criminal investigation into Gillum’s use of taxpayer-funded email resources to send campaign materials, it is clear that the Tallahassee Mayor’s growing controversy is becoming a major drag on his candidacy. Facing the possibility of indictment just weeks into his campaign, Andrew Gillum’s chances of becoming Florida’s next governor continue to diminish by the day.
