Alaska’s Economy Once Again Ranked As Worst In The Nation Under Failed Governor Bill Walker

Embattled Governor Bill Walker is continuing to attract national attention for his failed leadership on Alaska’s declining economy.

Now, a new report from Business Insider has ranked Walker’s economy dead last in the entire country.

The report comes only days after unemployment numbers showed Alaska’s jobless rate remains the highest of any state in the country.

Only a few weeks before that, a U.S. News & World Report analysis also found Walker’s economy is the worst in the nation.

Tragically, Alaska’s economic crisis is having a devastating impact on the state. Alaska’s population is now declining for the first time since the 1980’s, while enrollment in the state’s safety-net programs continues to skyrocket.

These problems are a direct result of Walker’s policy failures, including the state’s abysmal business climate, repeated multi-billion dollar deficits, and numerous credit downgrades.

Alaskans deserve national recognition for their immense strengths, not their governor’s failed leadership. It’s time for change.
