After Transportation Failures, New Yorkers Sour On Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo

Under Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo’s disastrous leadership, New York city commuters are bracing themselves for their “summer of hell” as a result of his harmful mismanagement of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. A new Quinnipiac poll shows New Yorkers simply aren’t buying Cuomo’s attempts to shift the blame after failing to properly manage his state’s transportation system. No matter how hard he tries to distance himself from MTA’s crises, the political climate is only getting worse for Andrew Cuomo.

POLITICO reports:

“Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s job approval rating has slipped… and a plurality of New Yorkers give him a ‘C’ for his handling of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The statewide survey found 4 percent of respondents gave Cuomo an “A” for his stewardship of the state authority that operates buses, trains, bridges, tunnels and commuter railroads in New York City and its suburbs.

Poll spokesman Maurice Carroll said the MTA was a ‘ticking time bomb’ for Cuomo’s political aspirations.

‘Voters don’t give the Gov good marks on handling that. A couple more derailments or just overall weariness with traveling on the trains could derail his political prospects,’ he said in a statement.

Overcrowding, old signals and deferred maintenance have led to a steady rise in the number of delays on New York City subways.”
