Aetna Ending VA Obamacare Sales As Northam And Perriello Continue To Support Failing Law

While Virginia’s Democrat candidates for governor, Ralph Northam and Tom Perriello, continue to campaign around the Commonwealth supporting the failing Obamacare law, news broke today that Aetna, one of the largest health insurers in the country, will no longer sell Obamacare plans due to expected losses in 2017. This represents the latest development of Virginia’s ongoing challenges with Obamacare after premiums shot up by 19 percent for an average Virginia family of four from 2013 to 2015 and areexpected to increase by double digits this year.

CNBC reports:

“Giant insurer Aetna said Wednesday it will not sell Obamacare plans in Virginia next year, citing expected financial losses on such plans in 2017…

‘Despite significantly reducing our exchange footprint, our individual Commercial products could potentially lose more than $200 million in 2017,’ said Aetna spokesman T.J. Crawford.

‘Based on that financial risk, and growing uncertainty in the marketplace, we will not offer on- or off-exchange individual plans in Virginia for 2018. We will communicate decisions on our remaining states as appropriate.’”

Despite the disastrous impact of Obamacare on Virginia families, Ralph Northam and Tom Perriello remain two of the law’s biggest apologists in the Commonwealth. While in Congress, Perriello voted for the law and, despite getting tossed out in the following election by his constituents for doing so, continues to double down on his support for Obamacare. Meanwhile Northam has gone so far as to attack Virginians who oppose the law, making the ridiculous assertion at an event last month that their only reason for doing so is because they did not recognize Barack Obama’s legitimacy as president. A Recent poll showed that as many as two thirds of Virginians favor repealing and replacing Obamacare.

Ralph Northam and Tom Perriello continue to ignore the catastrophic reality of Obamacare for millions of Virginians out of blind partisan loyalty to their party’s left-wing agenda. As they continue to push their failed policies on the Commonwealth, they further show how hopelessly out of touch they are with mainstream Virginians’ priorities and how unqualified either of them are to serve as governor.
