WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican Governors Association Chairman Governor Bobby Jindal issued the following statement today regarding Maine Governor Paul LePage’s announcement that he will seek re-election:
“Governor LePage has shown throughout his first term that he has what it takes to get Maine and its people working again and we have no doubt that will continue in a second term. Governor LePage has been a loyal steward to the taxpayers, an ally to those seeking jobs, and a strong advocate for the reform of the state’s education system. Through key tax cuts, reducing Maine’s pension shortfall, ending unnecessary state spending and guiding Maine to its lowest unemployment rate in more than four years, Maine is much better off today thanks to Governor LePage’s results-driven leadership. We look forward to highlighting these and many other successes in the upcoming months and we are extremely confident these transformational reforms will propel Governor LePage to a second term in 2014.”
