The Republican Governors Association announced a new fundraising record today, pulling in $14.8 million in the third quarter. The RGA has raised $43.8 million for the year and $88 million for the election cycle beginning January 1, 2011, doubling its fundraising pace from 2008, the last comparable election year. The RGA raised just over $44 million all of last year.
“The best examples of the positive impact of results-oriented, conservative leadership can be found in states with Republican governors. In these states you will find balanced budgets without tax increases, the most impactful education reforms in a generation and an unemployment rate that averages nearly a full point lower than in Democrat-led states,” said RGA Chairman Bob McDonnell. “Thanks to the fundraising efforts of all our governors, the RGA is well-positioned to add to the ranks of GOP governors this November.”
Note: In the third quarter of the last presidential election year, the Democratic Governors Association outraised the RGA by more than half a million dollars.
