Gretchen Whitmer is lying to Michiganders again.
During last night’s debate, Whitmer said that Michigan schools were only closed for three months during the pandemic. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Detroit, the largest school district in the state, closed its doors in the spring of 2020 until the end of the school year, and had multiple closures into 2022, depriving students of necessary in-person learning.
In Lansing, schools remained closed well into the 2021 school year, setting students back and leading to massive learning loss. Grand Rapids, Dearborn, Muskegon, and Kalamazootoo.
The facts are clear, Whitmer lied to voters last night and has done little to fix the failures of Michigan’s education system that she created.
“Gretchen Whitmer is once again gaslighting voters over her draconian school shutdowns that set Michigan students back a generation,” said RGA Spokesman Chris Gustafson.“Whitmer has failed to take responsibility for the educational and economic calamities that are the direct result of her orders, while students and families bear the cost. It’s time for a leader like Tudor Dixon who will put families first and get Michigan back on track.”
