
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released new inflation data for the month of June revealing consumer prices increased yet again with an inflation rate that rose to 9.1%. This 1.3% increase is up 0.3% from last month, marking the highest annual inflation since 1981.
The burden on consumers across every sector of the economy continued for another month, with:
- The gasoline index, up 59.9%;
- The food index, up 10.4%;
- The energy index, up 41.6%;
- Used cars and trucks, up 7.1%; and
- Utility (piped) gas, up 38.4%.
CPI increased 1.3% on a monthly basis (May 2022 to June 2022), which is higher than last month which was up 1.0% for all items, reflecting:
- The food index increased 1.0%;
- The energy index increased 7.5%; and
- The gasoline index increased 11.2%;
“The poor economy and rising cost of living are the top concern for a majority of Americans, and voters see right through the Biden administration’s and Democrat governors’ attempts to place the blame on anything other than their bad policies,” said RGA communications Director Jesse Hunt. “Instead of pointing fingers and welcoming the crisis, Republican governors have gone to work providing real relief for their states and ensuring they recovered stronger and faster than their Democrat counterparts.”
