Today, Gretchen Whitmer vetoed a bipartisan tax relief bill that would have cut the income tax for working families, exempted seniors from the pension tax, and restored a $1,000 child tax credit.
Instead of working across the aisle to help Michiganders fight Democrat-created inflation, Whitmer is playing political games and making it even more difficult for families to get by.
Whitmer has even promised to veto a bill to suspend the gas tax, despite her calling on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax. Gas tax cuts for thee, not for me.
“Michigan families have once again been let down by Gretchen Whitmer while she continues to play political games in the face of record gas prices and soaring inflation,” said RGA Spokesman Chris Gustafson. “Whitmer’s refusal to fight for Michigan families and to deliver on her promise to eliminate the pension tax is further proof that she’s only willing to fight for herself no matter the cost.”
