WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association issued the following statement congratulating Governor-Elect Mike DeWine on his victory in Ohio:
“Governor-Elect Mike DeWine is ready to take the state to new heights as governor,” said RGA Chairman Governor Bill Haslam. “His positive campaign was all about moving Ohio forward by fighting for fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, and new solutions to combat the opioid crisis. His victory shows that his message clearly resonated with voters, and stands as a testament to the effectiveness of his campaign. The RGA is proud to congratulate Governor-Elect Mike DeWine on his victory.”
“This Ohio governorship was the second biggest prize of the night for Democrats, but despite the national media attention and millions pumped into the state by the DGA, Tom Steyer, George Soros and other liberal groups, and endorsements from major Democrat politicians like Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren, Cordray failed to capture a win,” said RGA Executive Director Paul Bennecke. “This is a huge loss for Democrats and a major victory for Republicans.”
