Praising her “bright, optimistic vision” for Iowa, the Sioux City Journal has endorsed Republican Governor Kim Reynolds for a full term. Under Reynolds, the statistics prove that Iowa is prospering. The state was rated No. 1 in the annual U.S. News & World rankings, Iowa has the second-lowest unemployment rate in the country, and Iowa has a $127 million budget surplus.
“Clearly, problems exist, but we believe Reynolds is committed to addressing them,” writes the Sioux City Journal. “We prefer a strategy of improving the system in place today rather than returning to the unsustainable escalating costs of yesterday.”
“Our view of Iowa is much closer to the bright, optimistic vision of Reynolds than the gloom and doom Hubbell describes. As a result, The Journal editorial board today endorses Republican Reynolds over Democrat Hubbell.”
The Sioux City Journal concludes, “Hubbell likes to say he will grow Iowa ‘the right way.’ We believe Reynolds already is doing that.”
